Pipeline leak detection
Many environmental events can generate pipeline leaks: ground movements, external loads (intrusion), corrosion, etc.
FOPipe ensures continuous monitoring of the integrity of pipelines to prevent any failure that could impact production, the environment or people.
FOPIPE, A PIPELINE LEAK DETECTION SOLUTION
FEBUS Optics provides a complete solution with a fully equipped cabinet for preventing and detecting leaks on pipelines, including the FEBUS A1 (DAS - Distributed Acoustic Sensing) or the FEBUS G1-R (DTS - Distributed Temperature Sensing) and FOPipe Suite, as software component.
Our interrogators analyze the temperature and vibrations along the pipeline. In case of variations, they accurately locate the event within a meter or equal precision.
FOPipe Suite is our integrated tool for generating and visualizing alerts on a geolocated map. In the event of an incident, a real-time notification is sent providing its location and associated time.
Alerts are recorded and directly sent to the client's monitoring system (interoperability to SCADA and VMS).

DISTRIBUTED FIBER OPTIC SENSING FOR LEAK DETECTION
FOPipe, pipeline monitoring solution, is based on our patented distributed fiber optic sensing technologies, the performance of the FEBUS A1 (DAS - Distributed Acoustic Sensing), the FEBUS G1 (DTS - Distributed Temperature Sensing), and our FOPipe Suite.
In the event of a gas leak, a temperature drop occurs (Joule-Thomson effect). FOPipe allows its rapid detection.
On the contrary, a temperature increase is identified during a leak of hot liquid (hydrocarbons for example).
Abnormal acoustic and thermal variations also help to identify if the initially buried pipeline is uncovered or close to the surface (natural erosion, construction work).

FEBUS INNOVATION FOR PIPELINE INTEGRITY MONITORING
FEBUS Optics has developed its own analysis algorithm, RUSH (Real-Time analysis Using Signal History), to detect leaks on pipelines linked to thermal variations.
- Our algorithm simultaneously analyzes temperature trends over different periods of time (e.g., 5 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours).
- Our technology identifies any abnormal variations compared to observed trends.
- It enables the detection of micro-leaks over extended periods of time by eliminating seasonal thermal effects.

Instantaneous measurements
Integration of the algorithm RUSH:
- Significant noise reduction over long distances
- Increased sensitivity
- Absence of false alarms
The FEBUS Optics solution can incorporate multiple algorithms. They analyze simultaneously temperature data along the entire length of the pipeline to enhance the robustness of the leak detection system.
