For power cable monitoring, FOGrid combines the performance of our patented measurement devices with our proprietary FOGrid Suite software solution.

HOT SPOT DETECTION ON POWER CABLES
The FEBUS G1-R (DTS - Brillouin) allows for temperature monitoring and hot spot detection along the cable.
A hot spot needs immediate intervention as it is key indicator of deterioration. To set a quick response, the FEBUS G1-R and its FEBUS FOGrid Suite integrated software provide real-time, distributed, continuous, and highly precise localized data thanks to measurements taken every 10 centimeters.
The FOGrid solution also includes our RTTR (Real-Time Thermal Rating) algorithm. This advanced modeling algorithm enables to optimize the power cable load according to the needs without causing damage.
INTRUSION DETECTION NEAR POWER CABLES
Whether offshore or onshore, external elements can damage cables. Our FOGrid solution for power cable monitoring allows to detect any third-party intrusion within their perimeter, such as: boats navigating too close to installations or unauthorized construction sites nearby.
Our FOGrid Suite software solution generates alarms, classifies and precisely geolocates any event in real-time. This allows for a rapid and appropriate response:

MONITORING MECHANICAL FATIGUE OF A POWER CABLE
Tidal cycles, marine animal or ship anchors drags can subject power cables to mechanical stresses that may damage or even break them. Strain causes mechanical fatigue that must be monitored.
FOGrid, thanks to our FEBUS G1-R (DSS - Dsitributed Strain Sensing) interrogator, continuously monitors strain experienced by cales over long distances. During deployment or throughout the production phase, our FOGrid Suite software solution sends real-time notifications when the installation can be damaged with precise geolocation and nature of the alert.
DETECTING ELECTRICAL EVENT ON A POWER CABLE
Our FOGrid solution enables electrical faults detection occurring along the power cables.
The FEBUS A1 (DAS - Distributed Acoustic Sensing), with its state-of-the-art sensitivity, can capture the smallest snaps caused by partial discharges.

MONITORING SUSPENSION ZONES
The FEBUS A1 (DAS - Distributed Acoustic Sensing) allows real-time detection of any movement in the cables, even the slightest.
Offshore cables are mainly used for Marine Renewable Energy (MRE), supplying both fixed and floating wind farms.
Suspension zones, or free spans, are static cables parts subjected to movements. As they can degrade more quickly, they are more prone to breaking. Ensuring continuous monitoring of these cable segments is essential.
The FEBUS A1 (DAS - Distributed Acoustic Sensing) interrogator provides:
- real-time alerting if any weakness appears in the infrastructure,
- precise events localization.
