Real-Time Thermal Rating
To monitor the proper functioning and efficient operation of electrical cable networks at high voltages, whether onshore or offshore, our FOGrid solution includes Real-Time Thermal Rating technology. RTTR is an advanced modeling algorithm to determine conductor temperature from fiber temperature. Electrical load is maximized and optimized while maintaining high safety standards.
HOW DOES RTTR WORK?
Real-Time Thermal Rating, also known as Dynamic Cable Rating (DCR), continuously calculate the temperature of the optical fiber and the electrical load passing through the cable. It correlates these data with other information, such as the load history it has recorded or ambient thermal conditions.

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF RTTR?
FEBUS Optics' RTTR algorithm is based on precise thermal models. It complements the measurements of our distributed temperature sensing (DTS) interrogators:
- the FEBUS G1-R as a rackable version, to be integrated into a server rack,
- the FEBUS G1-C, which meets mobility requirement. Compact, equipped with wheels, and fully autonomous, it can be taken anywhere to perform quick and easy measurements.

- calculate the conductor's temperature profiles along the electrical cables,
- calculate and predict the maximum load in steady-state or emergency situations that the cable can handle to minimize the risk of damage,
- predict the conductor's maximum temperature in real-time,
- precisely locate critical spots and generate real-time alerts, by integrating to our FOGrid Suite sofware solution.
